Love Waits
Two decades gone and still I wait,
Tarry as I would for news,
Word of some that you are passing,
This because I surely choose.
That once you cared for youth and love,
I ask is there perhaps a quiver,
Your heart still beats for hope,
Yet cannot a word to me deliver.
How cold the wind that blows from then
As if the mountain snows are soon,
And I the small forgotten village
Lit by naught but winters moon.
My hair was once as black as ravens,
Now 'tis gilt with silver strands,
Youth has vanished in your absence,
cold and trembling are my hands.
Return to me my well beloved,
I tarry by the river's edge,
Words my lips have longed to tell thee,
Our sacred oath my solemn pledge.
Two decades gone and still I'm waiting,
As it was so shall it be,
Though it be as long as ages,
For ever Love I'll wait for thee.
